Abstract

This study article assesses the extension operations carried out by Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (MPKV) in Rahuri Tehsil, with a focus on their impact in empowering farmers and promoting agricultural development. MPKV has been in the forefront of rural development and agricultural education since its inception, with extension education serving as a primary objective. MPKV organizes a variety of extension programs, including training sessions, field demonstrations, and workshops, through its Directorate of Extension Education and various units such as Agricultural Technology Information Centers, Regional Extension Centers, District Extension Centers, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras. Secondary data from MPKV's extension programs in Rahuri Tehsil were studied to determine the influence on farmer development.

The study revealed MPKV's commendable efforts to disseminate information and technology to farmers, but it also indicated areas for improvement, such as assuring consistent participation, increasing program efficacy, and improving service quality. By solving these issues, MPKV can boost farmer empowerment and agricultural output, hence helping to rural prosperity and sustainable agriculture in Rahuri Tehsil.
