Abstract

Wearable Internet of Things (IoT) devices have become integral parts of our daily lives, gathering and analyzing data to provide intelligent responses to users. This paper presents a thorough survey of recent research in wearable IoT technology, categorizing wearable’s into four primary clusters: health, sports and daily activity, tracking and localization, and safety. The paper examines the fundamental differences in algorithms within each cluster, analyses research challenges, and discusses open issues. Additionally, it sheds light on the underexplored domain of Cellular IoT (CIoT)-enabled wearable, addressing both opportunities and challenges associated with their implementation.
