Abstract

The research paper explores the intersection of sustainable agriculture, environmental management, and economic viability within the Indian context. Through an in-depth literature review, the paper examines the historical evolution of farming systems, the environmental impacts of traditional agriculture, and the economic benefits of sustainable practices. Critical issues such as soil degradation, water resource management, biodiversity loss, climate change adaptation and farmer livelihoods are analyzed. The paper highlights the synergies between economic and environmental objectives, focusing on ecosystem services, technological innovations, and market-based approaches. It also presents innovative solutions, including agro forestry, precision agriculture, organic farming, sustainable supply chains, and community-based approaches. The practical implementation of these solutions is discussed through global and regional case studies, addressing challenges and opportunities. Policy recommendations and future research directions are provided to support the transition to sustainable agriculture. The study underscores the need for comprehensive strategies and collaborative efforts to achieve sustainability in agriculture, benefiting both the environment and the economy.
