Abstract

This paper examines supply chain risk management (SCRM) in the agribusiness and food industry, focusing on the unique challenges posed by seasonality, supply spikes, and perishability. It classifies agricultural supply chains into categories such as crops, livestock, and perishable/non-perishable products, highlighting the need for tailored risk management strategies. The study identifies factors like unpredictability in demand, natural disasters, and market volatility as key contributors to supply chain risks.

The paper also emphasizes the importance of sustainable supply chain networks, with strategies including sustainable farming, logistics innovation, and environmental management. It concludes that a one-size-fits-all approach is inadequate, and customized supply chain models are essential for mitigating risks and ensuring resilience. By adopting a proactive, comprehensive risk management approach, stakeholders in the agribusiness sector can better navigate the complexities of modern supply chain challenges and ensure long-term sustainability.
