Empowering women is fundamental to societal development, with positive ripple effects extending from individual lives to the community at large. The rise of new employment avenues and the rapid evolution of information technology have created significant opportunities for women in India and worldwide. This research examines how women in Ahilyanagar settings are using digital technologies, specifically focusing on how to bridge the digital gap. A central aim is to determine how accessible internet hubs and focused training programs can enable rural women to effectively utilize the internet. While programs like "Internet Saathi" exist to address this statistics indicate that internet penetration among rural women remains limited, with only a small fraction currently online.
Digital literacy, the foundation of digitization, is a critical skill for women's empowerment. The widespread adoption of mobile technology has made information readily available, allowing women to stay informed about events both locally and globally. Education is a key factor not just in enabling digital literacy for rural women, but also in fostering their economic independence. Providing rural women with the ability to use internet-enabled smartphones, perform online financial transactions, and connect with global trends is a crucial step toward achieving their full potential. This study will investigate these areas, exploring the challenges and opportunities presented by digitization for women in Ahilyanagar District.
